Manduka eKO vs eKO Long: Which One Should You Buy?

This is the same mat twice: identical textured natural rubber, identical 26″ width and 5 mm thickness, identical over-30%-recycled build, identical everything except length, weight, color, and ten dollars. The standard eKO runs 71″ at $114; the Long runs 79″ at $124. Everything we’ve written about the eKO’s grip, care, and character in other comparisons applies to both cuts equally.

So this page has one honest job: figuring out whether your height, your room, and your carrying habits justify the cheapest length upgrade in premium yoga.

The standard eKO’s 71″ already outstretches the typical 68″ mat, comfortably serving practitioners to about five foot ten. Past that, full-length poses start requiring choices: heels off in savasana, a shuffle-back before wheel, hands landing on floorboards in long lunges. None of it ruins a practice; all of it recurs every session.

At 79″, the Long dissolves those choices for anyone up to around six foot five. Eight inches is a genuine size class jump, not a rounding difference, and it makes the eKO Long one of the longest mainstream mats sold at any price. Tall practitioners who’ve only ever adapted to short mats tend to describe the change as disproportionate to $10.

Three things. Weight: 8 pounds against 7, on a mat family already among the heaviest carried, which makes the Long a genuinely burdensome commuter and an irrelevant difference at home. Bulk: the roll gets taller and thicker, testing mat bags and closet corners. And color: the Long comes in Midnight only at last count, while the standard offers around five colorways. Manduka concentrates color in its standard sizes, and buyers who care should know the Long decides that question for them.

Grip is the eKO’s dry-room rubber on both: tacky from the first practice, closed-cell, best when palms stay dry, towel territory in heated rooms. Cushion is the same firm, planted 5 mm. Care is the same damp cloth plus rubber’s sun-and-heat rules, the smell fades on the same schedule, the latex caution applies identically, and neither cut carries a warranty beyond Manduka’s 30 day window. Owner reports of surface flaking after hard years don’t distinguish between lengths either. Nothing about the mat’s character is on the table here; only its dimensions.

Within Manduka’s rubber line, the 79″ length comes in three weights: this full eKO Long, the 4 mm eKO Lite Long at $104 for commuters, and the foldable Superlite Long at $58 for travel. Tall hot yoga practitioners should look instead at the 79″ GRP Adapt 2.0 Long, whose absorbent top does what no eKO can. And tall buyers wanting a decades mat are in 85″ PRO Long territory, a different purchase entirely.

List prices are $114 and $124, and both sell through Manduka’s first-party Amazon listings. Check current prices on the standard eKO and the eKO Long; note that colorway sales reach the standard far more often than the single-color Long.

Proportionally, $10 for 11% more mat is the mildest size premium in Manduka’s catalog; the 85″ PRO Long charges $36 over its standard by comparison. That’s why our advice skews generous here: if you’re within an inch of the height threshold and the mat lives at home, round up. The regret risk runs almost entirely one direction.

Get the standard eKO if you’re under about five foot ten, carry your mat regularly, or want a color other than Midnight. It’s already a generously sized mat, and the color range is the fun Manduka forgot to give the Long.

Get the eKO Long if you’re six feet or close to it and the mat mostly stays put. Ten dollars to stop negotiating with your own mat every practice is among the easiest recommendations we make, and the only real conditions are a strong shoulder on moving day and peace with Midnight.
