Jade Fusion vs B Mat Strong: Which One Should You Buy?

About $31 separates them, so price will not decide this. Two millimeters of thickness, three pounds of weight, and two inches of width will.

The Fusion is the softer landing. Eight millimeters of open-cell rubber has give in it, and OutdoorGearLab’s standalone review scored its comfort a perfect 10 while noting that it flattens uneven ground. That review is from 2013 and the Fusion is not in GearLab’s current lineup, so the score is dated, but the thickness is not in dispute.

The B Mat Strong takes a different approach: six millimeters of rubber compressed hard, so it reads as substantial underfoot without letting a standing foot sink. b, halfmoon leans on that density in its own marketing, and it is the reason the Strong holds up in balance work better than a thicker, softer mat does.

Jade’s open-cell rubber is tacky from the first unroll and absorbs sweat into the mat as you practice, which is why it keeps working in a warm room. GearLab’s old Fusion review rated it 9 dry and 9 wet, and the Jade Harmony 2.0, which uses the same rubber family, scored 9.5 dry and 7 wet in the 2026 roundup.

The B Mat is dense rather than open-cell, so sweat pools on the surface rather than soaking in, and its tack is what holds you. Owners consistently describe it as one of the grippiest mats they have practiced on, and both faces grip, so there is no wrong side up. In a genuinely hot room, heavy sweaters end up towelling either mat, but the Jade handles moisture more naturally.

This is worth thinking about before you spend $150. Jade rubber is textured, and the standard complaint about it in fast vinyasa is that dragging a toe across it feels rough rather than smooth. Several of GearLab’s testers said the same thing about the Harmony 2.0.

The B Mat is tacky rather than textured, which grabs a foot instead of scraping it. People coming from foam mats often find it grabby for the first couple of weeks, particularly when pivoting. If you practice a style built on sliding transitions, neither of these is the smooth surface you want, and a polyurethane mat would suit you better.

The Fusion is open-cell, so it absorbs sweat and oils and wants an occasional deep clean. It is slow to dry afterwards, and GearLab scored its ease of care 4 of 10 on that basis. Jade’s warranty also excludes harsh cleaners, so water and a cloth is the approved routine.

Sweat never gets inside the B Mat, so the staleness open-cell rubber can develop is not a risk with it. Its tacky surface is the trade-off: it collects dirt, hair, and lint readily and needs regular wiping to keep working properly. Neither mat is low-maintenance, they are just high-maintenance in different ways.

Buy the Fusion if cushioning is the problem you are solving and the mat stays in one room. Eight millimeters of grippy rubber is the most padding any mainstream brand offers without moving to foam, and it levels an uneven floor as a bonus.
