Manduka PRO Long vs Jade Voyager: Which One Should You Buy?

The Manduka PRO Long and Jade Voyager sit at opposite ends of a useful range. The PRO Long is an 85″, 9.5-pound mat intended to stay in a practice room. The Voyager is a 68″, 1.5-pound sheet of natural rubber that folds into a suitcase. It gives up padding and floor coverage to travel well.

We would choose the PRO Long for regular home practice, especially for a tall person who wants firm support. We would buy the Voyager for flights, train trips and a walk to class. It can also add grip over a studio mat, but it is too thin to replace a cushioned daily mat for most people.

Manduka makes the PRO Long 85″ × 26″. Jade offers the Voyager only in 68″ × 24″. That leaves a 17-inch difference in length and two inches in width. Tall practitioners can keep their head and heels on the Manduka in savasana, and the extra width gives hands and feet more room in wide poses.

The Voyager is standard rather than spacious. Its smaller outline is helpful in crowded studios and hotel rooms, but anyone near six feet tall should expect to reach beyond the ends. If you want Jade rubber with a little more substance, the 68″ × 24″ Jade Travel is 1/8″ thick and weighs just under three pounds.

The PRO Long is 6mm thick, and its dense PVC does not collapse much under knees or wrists. That firmness also keeps standing poses steady. The Voyager is only 1/16″, or about 1.6mm, thick. On a wood floor it feels very close to practicing on the floor itself.

Jade describes the Voyager as its thinnest and most portable mat, which is the right way to read the specification. We like it as a clean, grippy layer over a borrowed studio mat. Used alone, it suits people who actively prefer hard-floor feedback and do not need much protection in kneeling poses. Sensitive knees make the Manduka an easy choice.

The Voyager uses a tacky natural-rubber surface. Jade markets that rubber for immediate traction, and no break-in is required. The PRO Long has a fabric-like closed-cell finish that commonly feels slick when new. Manduka’s current advice is to keep practicing on it while the surface wears in.

Neither mat has an absorbent polyurethane top designed around hot yoga. The Voyager’s open rubber has strong dry tack, but it can hold moisture and needs time to dry. Sweat remains on the PRO Long’s closed surface, so Manduka recommends adding a towel when practice gets wet. For ordinary unheated classes, we prefer the Voyager’s easier initial grip.

The Voyager weighs about 1.5 pounds. Jade says it folds to roughly the size of a yoga block, so it can go inside a backpack or carry-on instead of hanging outside a bag. Folding can leave creases, and Jade recommends storing it rolled when you are not traveling.

The PRO Long weighs 9.5 pounds and makes a large 26-inch roll. Carrying it once from the car is manageable; carrying it to every class gets old. The Voyager is eight pounds lighter. If the mat needs to move several times a week, that fact matters more than the PRO’s added support.

Manduka uses latex-free PVC made in Germany and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Its closed-cell construction will not absorb sweat. Wipe it with warm water or a compatible mat cleaner, let it dry, and roll it with the top facing out. That routine is simple and suits a mat that stays in one place.

Jade makes the Voyager in the United States from natural rubber. It is not suitable for a latex allergy. Clean it gently with an approved cleaner or damp cloth, air-dry it completely, and keep it away from direct sun, hot cars, essential oils and harsh chemicals. UV exposure can damage the rubber and void the warranty. Jade also plants a tree for each mat sold.

The PRO line is built around dense, long-wearing PVC. Manduka’s lifetime guarantee covers roughly ten years of regular use and one replacement, subject to its terms and proof of purchase from an authorized seller. That is unusually strong coverage for a yoga mat.

Jade covers the Voyager for one year against wear and manufacturing defects. Sun, improper storage and unapproved cleaners are excluded. Jade’s own FAQ also says the thin Voyager is not suited to vigorous daily practice because portability reduces durability. Buy it for trips or occasional classes, not as the mat you expect to use hard for a decade.

The current list prices are $164 for the PRO Long and $49.95 for the Voyager. Jade had five Voyager colors available when we checked. Manduka also listed five colors for the PRO Long. Jade does not currently give us a verified Amazon listing for the Voyager, so we would buy it directly from Jade.

Choose the PRO Long if you are tall, practice mainly at home and want substantial support with long warranty coverage. Its weight and break-in period are the drawbacks, but neither is difficult to accept when the mat stays put.

Choose the Voyager if a mat needs to fit inside your luggage or daily bag. It is inexpensive, immediately tacky and exceptionally light. We would not choose it for sore knees or intensive everyday use on a hard floor. For travel, though, the thin construction is exactly what makes it useful.
