Jade Level One vs B Mat Everyday 4mm: Which One Should You Buy?

Both of these are 4 mm of natural rubber that holds your hands from the first unroll. Neither needs a break-in, neither needs a towel in a normal room, and both are the kind of mat people describe as finally solving the sliding problem.

The Level One is 68″ × 24″, made in the USA, at $66.5. The B Mat Everyday is 71″ × 26″, made in Spain, OEKO-TEX certified, at $118. The $51.50 buys footprint and a different way of dealing with sweat.

Jade’s open-cell rubber pulls moisture off your palms and into the mat, which is why traction on a Jade tends to hold as a class goes on. The Level One uses the same material Jade puts in the Harmony, made in the same facility, so the grip people buy the brand for is present.

GearLab rated the 4 mm B Mat 9 out of 10 for grip and called it among the grippiest mats it had used in wet or dry conditions. The same review noted the surface can be too grippy for styles built on sliding transitions, with testers stepping between poses instead of gliding. If you practice fast vinyasa, that is a small point for the Jade.

The Level One absorbs. That is where its traction comes from and it is also a commitment: the sweat is now inside the rubber, so the mat wants cleaning more often and heavy sweaty use shortens its life. Jade’s one-year warranty specifically excludes harsh cleaners, so mild soap and a damp cloth is the routine.

The B Mat Everyday is dense and does not absorb. Sweat pools on the surface and the rubber grips through it; you towel the top between rounds and nothing ends up living in the mat. Heavy sweaters generally prefer that, because cleaning never goes past a wipe.

Sixty-eight inches is the Level One’s real limitation. If you are near six feet, a full-length pose leaves either your head or your heels on the floor, and no amount of grip makes up for that.

Width is the more commonly felt gap. Twenty-four inches puts a hand on the floorboards in a wide-legged forward fold or a side plank; 26 does not. Jade’s own answer to both problems is to move up the range: the 74″ Harmony at $109.95 adds the length, and the Harmony XW at 80″ × 28″ adds both.

At the same 4 mm, the B Mat feels slightly more solid underfoot and the Level One slightly more springy, which is what open-cell rubber does. Neither is a cushioning mat. On tile a long kneeling sequence will find you on either one, and a folded blanket is the usual fix.

If cushion is what you want from rubber, b, halfmoon’s 6 mm B Mat Strong is the same surface with more material at $144, and Jade has no thicker option in this family.

Jade makes the Level One in its own USA facility and plants a tree for every mat sold, a program now past two million. There is no third-party certification on it; the material and the manufacturing are the credential.

The B Mat is made in Spain from mostly natural rubber with some synthetic content, and carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Both contain latex, so neither works with a genuine allergy, and Jade is explicit that its mats are 99% latex free rather than latex free.

Color is a real gap. The Level One comes in classic blue and classic purple at last count, while b, halfmoon offers seven colorways at last count and both faces of the B Mat are the same tacky surface, so either side practices.

Weight is a wash at about 4 pounds against 4.1, though the Jade is a narrower roll. Care is identical in the way that counts: sunlight is what kills rubber mats, so store both rolled, dry and in the shade. Both carry one year of coverage.

$66.5 against $118. Neither is sold on Amazon: Jade sells the Level One on jadeyoga.com and b, halfmoon sells the Everyday on its own site, both close to list most of the year.

The Level One is the better value if it fits you, because the surface is most of what you are buying and it costs a little over half as much. The B Mat is not overpriced; it is a bigger mat with a certificate and a tidier relationship with sweat.

Get the Level One if you are comfortable on a 68 inch mat and you want Jade’s rubber without Harmony money. It is USA-made, it grips from day one, and a tree goes in the ground for it. Two colors and a mat that needs regular cleaning are the costs.

Get the B Mat Everyday if 68 by 24 inches is already tight, if you sweat heavily and would rather wipe a surface than wash a sponge, or if you want seven colorways and a certificate. It is the more complete mat, and it is not dramatically better at the one thing both of them are already good at.
