Jade Fusion vs B Mat Everyday 4mm: Which One Should You Buy?

The B Mat Everyday is 4 mm and 4.1 pounds at $118, two inches wider, certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. You are choosing between twice the material and half the weight.

The Fusion is the mat people land on after a standard 4 or 5 mm mat has stopped being enough for their knees. Dense rubber at that thickness keeps material between a bone and a hard floor throughout a long kneeling sequence, and it is one of the few mats you can do spinal rolling on without wincing.

Four millimetres of dense rubber is firm. The B Mat is not a cushioning mat and does not claim to be; it is a grip and stability mat. If joint comfort is why you are shopping, the B Mat Everyday is not the answer and b, halfmoon’s own 6 mm Strong is the nearer one.

About 8 pounds against 4.1. The Fusion is a mat you unroll in a room and leave there, and 8 pounds puts it level with the heaviest mats anyone sells.

GearLab described the B Mat Everyday as portable by the standards of mats it beats on grip, noting it rolls to about 3.5 to 4 inches across and runs two to four pounds lighter than most of them. If you walk or take transit to a studio, that gap decides this on its own.

Jade’s open-cell rubber pulls moisture off your palms as you warm up, which is where two decades of reputation come from. GearLab rated the 4 mm B Mat 9 out of 10 for grip and called it among the grippiest mats it had used in wet or dry conditions. Both hold from the first unroll.

The only real distinction is style: the B Mat surface can be too grippy for practices built on sliding transitions, with GearLab’s testers stepping between poses rather than gliding. That is a small point for the Jade if you practice fast vinyasa.

The Fusion is open-cell like all of Jade’s rubber mats, so sweat soaks into the material. That helps traction and means the moisture lives in your mat, so it wants cleaning more often and heavy sweaty use shortens its life.

The B Mat is dense and sheds. Sweat pools on the surface, the rubber grips through it, and you towel the top between rounds. Heavy sweaters generally prefer that, because cleaning never goes past a wipe and nothing is working on the material from the inside.

The B Mat is 71″ × 26″ against the Fusion’s 68″ × 24″. Twenty-four inches is the older narrow standard and it shows in a wide-legged forward fold, where a hand finds the floorboards.

Jade does make bigger Fusions: a 74″ at $199.95 and a Fusion XW at 80″ × 28″. Those are the most expensive route to a large mat and the only one that also gives you 8 mm.

b, halfmoon’s 6 mm B Mat Strong at $144 is the same rubber and the same 26 inch width with half again as much material. It weighs about 5 pounds.

If 4 mm is too firm for your knees and 8 mm is more mat than you want to own or carry, that is the obvious answer and it costs less than the Fusion. Worth knowing before you commit to either end.

Jade makes the Fusion in its own USA facility and plants a tree for every mat sold, now past two million. There is no third-party certification on it; the material and the manufacturing are the credential.

The B Mat is made in Spain from mostly natural rubber with some synthetic content and carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Both contain latex, so neither works with a genuine allergy, and sunlight is what destroys both. Each carries one year of coverage.

The $56.95 is buying thickness and nothing else you would notice. If that thickness solves a joint problem, it is money well spent; if it does not, the B Mat is the better everyday mat and the cheaper one.

Get the Fusion if sore knees, hips or elbows are the limiting factor, if you do Pilates or a lot of floor work, and if the mat stays in one room. Nothing else in natural rubber gives you this much material.

Get the B Mat Everyday for everything else. It is half the weight, two inches wider, sheds sweat rather than soaking it, carries a certificate, and costs less. For a normal practice several times a week it is the more practical mat by a comfortable margin.
