Retrospec Solana 1/2"

The Retrospec Solana 1/2" is the thinner version of the same NBR foam mat, with half the cushion and about a pound less weight for $15 less. It keeps the 72 by 24 inch footprint, ribbed non-slip surface and nylon carrying strap, and the reduced thickness makes it steadier underfoot for standing poses than the 1" version. It's free of BPA, phthalates, heavy metals and latex, though Retrospec notes the foam can release an odor at first that airs out over a day or two.

Hugger Mugger Para Rubber 5mm

The Hugger Mugger Para Rubber is a dense, open-cell natural-rubber mat with a different grippy texture on each side. Its 5mm build gives firm cushioning and a grounded feel, but the 6.6-pound weight makes it better for home or studio use than a long commute. The porous surface needs regular cleaning and careful air-drying, and the rubber smell can take time to fade. It contains latex and should be kept out of direct sunlight.
