Manduka PRO Long vs Jade Travel 68: Which One Should You Buy?

These mats solve different problems. Manduka PRO Long is 85 by 26 inches, 6mm thick, and 9.5 pounds. Jade Travel is 68 by 24 inches, about 3.2mm thick, and roughly three pounds. Manduka gives tall practitioners more room and firm cushioning. Jade folds into luggage and is much easier to take across town.

We would choose PRO Long for a dedicated practice space, sensitive joints, and anyone who regularly runs off the end of a standard mat. Jade Travel is the useful choice for flights, hotel rooms, and studio commutes. Its immediate rubber grip is also appealing, but the thinner surface is less forgiving on knees and elbows.

PRO Long measures 85 by 26 inches. The 68-inch Jade Travel is 68 by 24 inches, so Manduka adds 17 inches of length and two inches of width. That difference keeps a tall practitioner on the mat in savasana and leaves more room for broad shoulders, long lunges, and transitions that drift sideways.

Jade also makes a 74-inch Travel, though it remains 24 inches wide. It is a better fit for taller travelers, but PRO Long still provides 11 additional inches. If 85 inches sounds excessive, the standard Manduka PRO is 71 by 26 inches and keeps the same 6mm construction.

PRO Long uses dense PVC that spreads pressure without feeling spongy. Its 6mm thickness is comfortable for kneeling and seated poses on hard floors, yet it stays steady when weight shifts into one foot. We prefer it for daily home practice and anyone who often reaches for extra knee padding.

Jade Travel uses a much thinner natural rubber sheet. It gives a direct connection to the floor and avoids the unstable feel of soft foam, but there is less material between joints and the ground. A folded towel or knee pad can help. The tradeoff is the reason this Jade can fold and pack while Manduka cannot.

Jade leaves natural rubber exposed, creating the tacky surface for which the brand is known. It grips hands and feet immediately in a dry room and does not need a break in period. The texture can feel grabby during flowing transitions, especially if you prefer to slide a foot into position.

A new PRO Long can feel slick. Manduka says regular practice is the current break in method, and it no longer recommends the old salt treatment. The surface becomes more dependable with use, but closed cell PVC does not absorb moisture. Manduka recommends adding a mat towel for hot yoga or heavy sweat.

We have not found a current controlled test comparing these exact variants. Based on their materials and the brands’ care guidance, Jade is the safer choice when immediate dry traction matters. Neither is a dedicated absorbent hot-yoga mat.

PRO Long weighs 9.5 pounds and rolls into a 26-inch-wide bundle. It is manageable from a closet to the floor, but carrying it on transit or through an airport is unpleasant. Manduka does not include a bag or strap.

Jade describes the Travel as just over three pounds, and its thin rubber can be folded to fit a suitcase. That makes it far more practical for regular classes and trips. Fold lines may remain visible after storage, so roll it when packing space is not tight and avoid leaving it compressed longer than necessary.

Wipe PRO Long with warm water or Manduka mat wash, dry it, and roll it top side out. Its closed cell PVC does not absorb normal practice moisture. The mat is latex free, made in Germany, and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

Jade Travel is made in the United States from natural rubber. Clean it gently, let it dry fully, and keep it away from direct sunlight, hot cars, and outdoor storage. Natural rubber gradually oxidizes, and sun or heat speeds that process. It also contains natural rubber proteins, so people with a latex allergy should avoid it.

Jade says it plants a tree for every mat sold. That program and the absence of PVC may matter to buyers who prefer rubber. Manduka offers more detailed material certification and a surface that asks less of the owner between practices.

Manduka gives PRO Long a lifetime guarantee. Its terms define useful life around ten years of regular practice, require proof of purchase from an authorized seller, and allow one replacement for covered defects. Normal wear and damage from improper care are excluded.

Jade covers its Travel mat for one year against defects in materials and workmanship. Natural rubber wear, color change, and damage from sun or harsh cleaning are not manufacturing defects. Buyers keeping one mat for daily use receive substantially stronger written protection from Manduka.

Get PRO Long if you need an 85-inch practice surface, want firm 6mm cushioning, and can leave the mat at home. It is expensive and heavy, but it gives tall bodies room that a travel mat cannot match.

Get Jade Travel if the mat needs to fit into luggage or travel to class every week. It is about 6.5 pounds lighter, costs much less, and provides immediate dry grip. Accept the thinner cushioning, narrower footprint, latex content, and more careful storage routine.
